ATSIMA is an Aboriginal-led charity, registered and incorporated in 2015.

ATSIMA’s vision is that ALL ABORIGINAL AND TORRES STRAIT ISLANDER STUDENTS WILL BE SUCCESSFUL IN MATHEMATICS.

To achieve this vision, ATSIMA is creating new ways of teaching and learning mathematics by connecting mathematics to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures. By transforming mathematics education for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander learners, all students benefit.

  • YuMi Deadly Mathematics Professional Learning
    The YuMi Deadly Maths Professional Learning strategy was developed by Queensland University of Technology’s YuMi Deadly Centre to provide professional learning to teachers on the years F–9 mathematics program YuMi Deadly Maths.YuMi Deadly Maths was originally designed to improve teachers’ capacity to effectively teach mathematics to students in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and low-SES schools. It aims to enhance students’ mathematics learning outcomes and improve employment and life chances. It focuses on the how of teaching, and is aligned with the Australian Curriculum: mathematics.
