The National Mathematics Summer School (NMSS) is a program for
motivated and high-achieving school students that has been held each January since 1969.

The 57th NMSS will be held in Canberra from 5 to 18 January 2025.
Applications for NMSS 2026 will open in May 2025.

Queensland students who are in Year 11 are invited to apply for the National Mathematics Summer School (NMSS) to be held in Canberra every year.

The NMSS is a program for the discovery and development of mathematically gifted and talented high school students from all over Australia. Participation is normally restricted to about 75 students who have completed Year 11 in school. Around 12-15 students are chosen from Queensland.

Students who do well in the UQ/QAMT Problem Solving Competition are encouraged to apply, but applications are welcomed from students who have not participated in competitions and can show interest and ability in other ways.

Further information about the Summer School is available through the NMSS Website, through QAMT, or by contacting the Queensland State Selector, Dr Michael Bulmer.
