QAMT has been holding annual two day residential conferences for over two decades. These conferences are open to Teachers, Educators and anyone interested in Maths Education from prep to tertiary level.

Opening Keynote: Associate Professor Rowena Ball, Australian National University: The development of mathematics as a science was driven by the economic imperatives of applied, real-world problems. 

Closing ‘Bill Simpson’ Practising Teacher Plenary address: Stephen Broderick, St Ursula’s College.  Astronomy Key Note –  Colourful Characters’ and their Contribution to Astronomy (C3A) On his death bed in 1543, Copernicus’ model of the Solar System was revealed to the world in his book De revolutionibus orbium coelestium (On the Revolutions of the Celestial Spheres). 

This year the conference will be held at Toowoomba Grammar School and accommodation is available at $125/night across the road at Grammar View Hotel (just mention QAMT when booking). We will be using a conference app again this year and it is easily downloaded from Events XD and just search for QAMTAC
