QAMT State Conference 2020 – Postponed

The QAMT (Queensland Association of Mathematics teachers) State Conference organising committee and the QAMT executive have been monitoring the spread of the COVID-19 virus across Australia and the globe.

After much consideration and discussion and with input from advice given via the AAMT (Australian Association of Mathematics teachers) the conference planning committee and the QAMT executive members, we regret to announce that the QAMT State Conference 2020 scheduled to be held at Ipswich state high school on 27th and 28th June has been postponed.

This difficult decision was made in an atmosphere of great uncertainty. While by the end of June there may be greater certainty and the spread of COVID-19 may have been contained, we had to act now. The postponement aims to minimise and financial losses and to provide clarity for all concerned.  The over-arching concern of course was consideration of the health and well-being of our colleagues.

We are still committed to providing quality professional development to all sectors of our members and are currently in discussion about an online format that may enable us to continue to do so.
